Justice Initiative Team

I have been a part of the Emmaus church body since 1992, when I was drawn to the church for its care for each other and those outside of the church.
My own attraction to social justice began as a child when I remember trying to sort out the unfairness I saw amongst my peers and in my community growing up. It was a strong core value then.
When the church council formed the Emmaus Justice Initiative and I was invited to be a part of the committee, I knew I could only say ‘yes’ to the invitation and still live with myself. Through the many discussions with the EJI team I have grown and learned much more about myself and the world around me. Thank you for this opportunity to serve.

I am Randy Olson. I am the church council’s representative to the EJ I committee. My wife, Kathy, and I have been members of Emmaus for over 20 years. The murder of George Floyd made me aware of my complicity in matters of race and justice. That awareness has convicted me and energized my heart for the gospel and spiritual growth needed in my life. The gospel and justice are inseparable.
